August 2005, El Sur: Costa Rica

It all started with one eco-vacation Mark found online through a company called Globe Aware. Everything looked legit so after 4 weeks of deciding if I want to embark on this adventure, I decided what the heck, its only one week. (But not without negotiating 1 week of 4 star hotels after 'survival camp' was over.)

We found ourselves
- learning how to milk cows
- making fresh cheese with... you guessed it, the milk from our cows
- squeezing sugar cane using ox to make some sort of molasses stuff
- going horseback riding to a waterfall in the rainforest
- making a trail in the rainforest with machetes (those things are cool)
- teaching English lessons to the local children (but, they mostly taught us...)
- paining some bookshelves for the school
- eating lots of fresh fruit, beans and rice among other things
